I thought I’d never get out…

…of the Harborview parking garage this morning! I managed to wedge Dakini into the(only available) itty-bitty parking spot in the bowels of the multibuilding, multilevel beehive of the garage. We found our way from level 5 to the correct wing of the hospital. We succeeded in getting mom’s cast reduced, freeing her thumb and other tired little piggies-hurray! Now she can get back to her papercuts with a little more dexterity.

But, on the way out, I felt a bit like Dante escaping, daunted, but tenacious, from the undertombs of Hell. We kept turning corners, only to find: ‘Staff Exit’ only signs, or wrong ways… Once we actually saw daylight and drove eagerly out of the massive structure, only to find a cloverleaf sucking us right back in. I’m tellin’ ya, it’s good to be home.

We took Sam with us this time. He was thrilled to be out of school for any reason and it was actually(despite my dubious thought processes when he asked me this morning) an improvement to have him along. He was a merry little sweetie and BB and him got to watch the choppers at the helipad.

He thought it was silly that they sent us to so many different waiting rooms… Come to think of it, I thought it was pretty silly too, but rather more fun with him along.

He read Elfquest, I drew a picture…

Thus, we whiled away the afternoon whilst BB got her x-rays and the technician sawed away at her cast.

Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, if you’ve got to spend it in a hospital. And HarborVIEW actually has a pretty nice one.

But, I’m glad we don’t have to go back for a while…

looks like Sam is acting out the hospital energy in the last shot…
