Illustration Friday: Monster

It just so happened that the final project of my printmaking class at TESC was a portfolio of lithographs on the subject: Monster.
I chose to depict my own fear and depression-the biggest monster in my closet.

Your monster rocks too! Love the droopy, surreal lines. I’d've commented, but you don’t allow anonymous commentators…

You’re right, fear and depression can be a monster too – and the fear of the fear and depression too. But it’s possible slowly to be stronger than that monster – not sudden, but little by little, with fall-off once in a while. One day you’re free – until maybee next time, but now you’re stronger than before (I’ve been there myself).
Thanks for the great image.

Been there, done that. Again and again and again.
It’s amazing, how deep and terrifying that hole can be and awesomely powerful once you learn to rise to the challenges, not to jump into the pit headfirst, or slide, dragged in, tailfirst-but to flow right over it… Or to stand and face it down, nasty self-damning fangs and all ’til it says uncle and slips down the drain with the other sewage.
Thanks for the good words.

So dark. And true. Thank you for sharing it.

This really does convey the feelings you described. It’s dark and oppressive, and the figure looks so vulnerable.

This is excellent work! I had a similar idea for my illustration. To me there’s nothing scarier than the things that can take up residence in the mind.
