—AVING CREAM!

That is one bald, bald, boy.

The goat has been sheared and some lucky lady out there will be wearing his hair.

Man, it was hard to cut off all that glorious thick mane… but fun!

New poem

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

I’m writing buttloads of poetry, most of it unconscionable, or at least unprintable.

;)

This one, however is (mostly) printable, so enjoy!

You can talk all you want,
exert your fine mind in towering feats of
mental masturbation or blather on about
tv shows I’ve never even heard of.

I won’t stop you, nor shame you,
nor yield myself to this
creeping, comfy paralysis
that dulls the edges
and blurs the faces.

I will eat my sandwich while
Oprah reveals the lecherous secrets of cheating
husbands. Savoring the tomatoes,
turkey, spinach and bread
down to the last delicious lick
of aoili.

And then,
I’ll simply fold myself inward
on lines of pure intention;
dive through this meek carpet,
melt into the floorboards,
extend pellucid filaments
through concrete and rebar.

Slide my tasty venules under it all.
pulsing, undulating with the rhythm
of earth, of mud, of the rocks
under us all.

Here, the connection is
undeniable, life and death
happen in such quick succession
there is no denying
the fluidity of all things.

Here, my hands become trees,
my toes earthworms,
and my words
are a stream.

Feel the soft moss of me.
Touch the sparkling invitation,
let the cool water soothe
your hot, tired feet.
Fill your hands with me,
bring me up to wet your lips
and bathe your face.

Know the warm earth,
the strong, tough limbs
that can climb with you,
hold you when you fall,
or wrestle for understanding
in the maelstrom of arrogance
and delusion.

I stand before you abruptly,
utterly human.
Hungry again, humbled,
ready to run or fight
or fuck.

The choice is yours.

Too busy living…

I LOVE me a poetic challenge!

Monday, August 21st, 2006

The immortal David Jones, spitter of firey, incisive, juicy odes to pain, deceit, misogyny, sex, love and joy, told me I could blog his poem, if I gave him one on the same subject…

Just so happens I had one. You can read it here

;)

Friends

She
Always says
Let’s just be friends
Or
Friendship is all I have
To offer you
Friendship
Like a consolation prize
In the game of love
I have so many friends
I cannot sleep at night
Or remember their names
She says
I’m seeing someone now
Looking past me
Like I was an obstacle
Or a minor diversion
In her search
For prince charming
She shakes my hand
As if to say
This is enough for you
And smiles an unctuous smile
Fades into the night
Me ??
I go home
And become better acquainted
With my cock

The list of companies selling ‘organic’ products that aren’t really organic is growing.

‘In its July 27 newsletter, the OCA announced it is expanding its boycott to include retail chains selling “bogus organic milk from Aurora.” The boycott now includes Costco’s “Kirkland Signature,” Publix’s “High Meadows,” Safeway’s “O” Organics, Wild Oats’ organic milk and Giant’s “Nature’s Promise.”

The OCA is also calling for a boycott of Horizon’s organic soy brands — Silk soymilk and White Wave tofu — claiming that Horizon has “begun turning away from U.S. organic farmers and instead importing cheap organic soybeans from China and Brazil, where labor rights and environmental standards are routinely violated.” ‘

excerpted from this article at Newstarget.com

Damn it, I knew there had to be something whacked with Costco and Safeway selling ‘organic’ food, but I buy some of those products at PCC and Whole Foods, companies I usually trust to weed out the fraudulent flim flam.

Grrr…

(thanks, John, for the warning).

If stupidity got us into this mess, why can’t it get us out?

cf

She’s been wanting a chess set for her dragons to play fate with at her Arts in Nature festival installation later this month.

ch

The art angels were listening(sometimes I think my mom has a special line in to them) and they just happened to drop a box of crystals in her lap at le moment juste…

cq

So she dropped them in my lap, bought me some silver and black sculpey and voila!

Now I just need to make the other side.

So fun! I’ve always wanted to make a chess set… Never dreamed it’d be a crystal one!

Brandi, a member of my troupe, has devoted much of her time and energy to saving the teeth of the children in Jamaica. In a country where there’s only one dentist for every eighty thousand people, much help is needed!

Donate, if you can. It’s an easy way to make a huge difference.

Here’s her letter and information:

Dear Friends,
As some of you may know, since 2003 I have spent about 3 weeks in Jamaica every year as part of one of the largest volunteer dental projects ever. With the help of Great Shape Jamaica and International Smile Power Foundation about 85 volunteers from all over the USA and Canada are able to help over 8000 Jamaican people. We work in areas of the country where there is only 1 dentist for every 80,000 people, and most everyone we see have numerous teeth that are infected and need extraction. It is hard to believe that people die from dental infections everyday when it is so preventable.
I have personally helped to develop a dental education program in the schools where kids get the knowledge they need to save their teeth. Most have never seen a dentist and really have no idea they can keep their teeth their whole lives until we give them the tools and education. I also have performed thousands of sealants on the kids with the most dental risk to help prevent them getting a cavity and probably saving the teeth.
Helping out these organizations is a way for you to know that your contribution is going directly to the people. We volunteers pay for our own trip and supplies and I personally see how all the contributions are being used to make a tremendous impact on the island’s people. Your contribution of $50 to Sponsor A Smile would mean the gift of dental care for 5 more Jamaican children. It is also tax deductible, plus for every $50 donation you have a chance in a raffle for a stay at Sandals Resort, so you have an opportunity to come to Jamaica too.
I see thousands of kid’s everyday in just one school and there are never enough toothbrushes to go around. All of my toothbrushes were given away on my dental adventure to Uganda in June, and I have only been able to acquire about 100 brushes so far for Jamaica. I have room for a lot more, so if anyone can help with a toothbrush and floss drive or contribution, it will go to great use. If you would like to hear more, just let me know. There are a lot of ways you can help and even with no dental knowledge you can come and volunteer with us in Jamaica or elsewhere. You can also check out my dental volunteer photos of the past 4 years by clicking here . Thanks for considering helping something that is such a very important part of my life.

Thank you,
