Seattling about

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

My mom and Sam and I got to see a dear friend this week, for the first time since her three year buddhist retreat ended. Elisabeth, now known also as Wangmo, looked absolutely beautiful in her maroon and yellow habit as we showed her some new Seattle features.

The aquarium, with it’s spanking new ’sea wall’ and lovely, mesmerizing jellyfish arch and the Olympic Sculpture Park, with it’s big, rusty(or shiney) abstract objets d’art and lusciously smooth eyeball seats.

It was a monsterously fun day.

NOOOOO!-Help save Pandora!

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Pandora, my favorite online music source, is observing a Day of Silence to warn us about the plight of internet radio stations.

‘Ignoring all rationality and responding only to the lobbying of the RIAA, an arbitration committee in Washington DC has drastically increased the licensing fees Internet radio sites must pay to stream songs. Pandora’s fees will triple, and are retroactive for eighteen months! Left unchanged by Congress, every day will be like today as internet radio sites start shutting down and the music dies.’

Go here to give your senator a piece of your mind about the obliteration of our internet music streams!

I had the fun of painting Eva for a ferociously sexy dance performance last night. The hat went on in the green room and we couldn’t resist the deadly cowpoke slouch.

My intended canvas for last night’s Little Red Studio canceled on me the night before and the first person who popped into my head as a quick substitution for my solstice bodypainting was my lovely new gardener friend Rita. I knew she was planning on guesting at the studio that night with her husband Ben, so… More pretty Sungoddess pics here.

nb

Turns out it was her birthday too!(along with Kirsten and four other troupe members-sheesh, we’ve got a lotta gemini power ’round here).

So, happy solstice birthday Rita Sungoddess, and my dear housemate Kirsten too-may the sun kiss you golden all over!

The Fremont fair rocked this year! I had a delicious, delovely weekend with my newly discovered kinspirit, Sophie Brunet. We enjoyed the spectacular pleasure of painting Danni and Michael for the nekkid biking contingent of the Fremont Solstice parade.

It was so fun! Even getting up ridiculously early on a saturday and losing my cell phone and wallet(temporarily) didn’t impinge too much on our painty, meandering delight.

Burning trees(best rooty booty ever!),

Fire-blasting boobies(OMG, how HOT is that?!!),

and absolutely fabulous ents made the fair an afternoon to remember.

pics, pics, pics!(fair warning: much nekkidity)

Sometimes I feel like I’m falling out of my skin

Friday, June 15th, 2007

And I don’t know who or what will emerge from the shredded husk.

SO tired. Damn insomnia last night, just could not sleep no matter how long I laid there with my eyes closed, how perfectly I attempted to relax and release my thoughts. Now I’m practically sleeping through work.

Massage, zzzzzzz, massage, zzzzzzzz, massagzzzzzzzzzzzz-

Gah.

I guess p’raps I’d better take a break from Murakami and his bizarre otherworlds, psychospiritual rambles and gruesome flaying torture scenes(really, Haruki, MUST you?-could you not bring your excellent, potent storylines to their exquisite pinnacle without such visceral viciousness?!). The fluidity of reality and magic, the vivid display of people’s tiny little worlds and the vaster flow beneath them, comes a little too close to my own vision, my artistic rendering of life as a Zan and begins to make me wonder which world I’m in, which world I WANT to be in.

Or maybe it was just the chocolate bars. Mmmm.. Dark, dark chocolate yumminess with sour cherries and medium dark chocolate with ginger chunks-the two contrasting and melting together so nicely I didn’t want to stop comparing them. Ever.

Eventually, inevitably, I was left with nothing but the amazing maze of thunking thoughts crunching and crinkling in my head all night despite my most profound desire to obliterate them into nothingness and succumb to sweet, sweet sleep.
