Hell yeah

Monday, October 15th, 2007

I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.

Scaring the crap out of people…

…is fun.

I worked the ’spirit wall’ at Bastyr Haunted Trails last night. We had strobes and creepy music and fleshy, hair-grabbing, jelly wormy things hanging all over. I had these huge clawed hands to poke through the wall and grab at folks as they stumbled by, plus glowing black-lighted nasty masks to push into the stretchy black fabric-the effect is quite freaky, the faces looming out of nowhere in the dark forest…

The screams were delicious, though I must admit I felt bad for the littler kids-they looked so petrified. I certainly wouldn’t have taken Sam! Toooooooo Scarey!

Still, it was fun and being a freaky monster(still a little hoarse from all the ghoulish moanandhowling) was the perfect ending to my major meltdown of a day.

Rrrrraaahrwrrrr! Is it tasty? Is it juicy? Can we eats it? :)

It was hard to keep ‘my precious’ out of my jibbering. Wouldn’t want to get them laughing and spoil the delightful terror of it all.

If you’re someone who enjoys being frighted, you should definately check it out. It’s this weekend and next weekend at the Bastyr campus. And you’ll be supporting the accupuncture program.

Rita’s punkin

Rita sent me this pic of the punkin she carved at my party last week.

Nicely done. I love the slim tree limbs-gonna have to borrow that technique next time I carve one…

my momma started something with her eggplant o’lantern the other day…

She came by with a load of odd and bumpy vegetables tonight and M’kehla, Sam and I joined in to create an interesting edible menagerie.

Dancing the paint on

The first Little Red Studio Gold show went brilliantly.

I painted my friend Rita while her husband Ben played us a lovely impromptu piano solo-we danced the paint on… It was sooooo sweet!

Sexy punkin!

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Yep, it’s time for the Toys in Babeland contest again!

I made a big ol’ pot of roasted punkin soup and invited my friends and cohorts over for a punkin carving. It was great fun, even if I did forget to buy votives. :(

Sadly, this means I don’t get to show you the awesomely cool punk-in that Danni and Matt carved, complete with pierced nose and eyebrow, or the beautiful tree and cat punkin that Norita made or Tessa and Finn’s spiralovely schmetterling punkin…

Sigh, such a waste of good bloggability.

Ah well, I did manage to get some pics of my sexy punkin

More here, along with a few shots of Tessa and Finn working on their flutterby an’ some of my mom’s excellent eggplant improvisation.

Shatter
(click to embiggen)

I started this painting two days ago. Just finished it today. Really hard to get the colors accurate in photoshop, though I kind of like the glowy aspect of the shattering that my attempt to bring the contrast into proportion created.

Birdsnacks

That’s what we’d be for this fellow:

gastornis

Glad I’m not a prehistoric girl. All of the beasties back then were pretty much armed and armoured to the (gigantic, sharp) teeth.
