moaning and groaning

far too often these days I wake up feeling old and broken.

My bod hurts, my ribs askew, my belly all twisted up in mournful knots and I'm just so damn tired I don't even want to get up.

I'm thirty four and I feel like I'm eighty four!

I've tried various treatments and therapists, but so far nothing has hit the right spot. I don't even know what the right spot is. It's kind of demoralising.

My current doctors theory is that I have IBS(irritable bowel syndrome)which is really just sort of a wastebasket term for 'your belly hurts when you are stressed out' and some kind of musculoskelatal issue. She gave me the age old advice: Exercise, drink LOTS of water and avoid stress'.

Avoid stress?!

Oh, look, there's some stress. No thanks, I don't want any today.

Bah!

bitch, bitch, bitch.

Herbal tea. It always helps me un-stress, and even makes my tummy feel better a lot of times ;)

Hi Zan,

It's Eva, the friend of Josh and Jess who visited in September. I've been peeking at your and Daniel's blogs to get a feel for blogging (my own is still in production).

Anyway, I have a condition called fibromyalgia, which often comes WITH irritable bowel syndrome. I'm wondering if that could be what's going on with you. (Your description of feeling 84 when you get up in the morning really rang a bell with me.) Fibromyalgia comes with muscle aches and pains and lots and lots of fatigue and weakness.

Check out http://www.fmnetnews.com/pages/basics.html and http://fmaware.org/fminfo/brochure.htm. A lot of doctors still don't know about it and don't diagnose it. The best bet is often a rheumotologist, who can give you some medication that can help. There are also some alternative health therapies I've tried, with some success.

Feel free to email me for more info. Hope you feel better!

Eva

Thanks for all the sympathy and readership.

Blogs are great, with a regular journal, nobody hears you when you bitch and moan!
