summer garden

Cooked up my first garden zucchinis earlier this week, sauteed with garlic and served up with baked chicken and greens.

There's nothing like going out to the yard and harvesting all the veggies and herbs you need for dinner. Everything tastes better when it's fresh off the vine.

Today, the very first red-ripe tomato! Yum.

Soon, we'll be rolling in brilliant orange and red cherry tomatoes... That, to me is the grandest moment of any garden.

I dug the gnarly weeds out of the ol' garlic bed. Now I've got a lotta space... Wonder what I'll plant now?

I also unearthed Sams sandbox. It was thigh-high in grass and morning glories.

OK, I'm off to bed, to my pile o brandnew fantasy books.

Comments:

I grabbed my first tomatoes and zucchini out of the garden a few days ago and damn near fainted with delight.

Now if only my melon vine would get moving.

I wish I had space for a serious veggie garden, all I grow right now are herbs. I guess that's the price I pay for affordable housing eh?

Mmmmmm...
I miss your garden.
I miss you.
I miss Sam and Rowan too.
I love you.

I have been helping in my mama's garden in Maryland and we have been feasting on squashes of all varieties, green bean and tomatoes.

Mmmmm...

I'm thinking next year I'm going to till up a patch O' backyard and grow me some deadly thai peppers. I work with this little old laotian lady who swears I'm the only white guy she's ever seen who can eat them raw.

Thanks for all the lovely garden sentiments.

I miss you too, Jess, hang in there. I love you.

Making myself a breakfast sandwich today, I went out to the garden and loaded up the pockets of my robe with lovely, plump, warm, shapely, red, orange and yellow 'maters.

So pretty and so sweet.
