Dakini woes

My poor car, she's been leaking, the front passenger floor is all wet.

New years eve, I set out for the hotsprings with some friends and she refused to start! Darn it. We went anyway, in Jess T's car, and when we came back she started up no problemo.

Sheesh.

But then she tuckered out on me again.

SO I took her to the doctor. NOw she's got a shiney new alternator, and I'm $400 lighter.

And I still don't know where that leak is coming from.

Cars.

Dammit...that alternator has already been replaced, as has the battery. You tell those guys that there's some ground problem and not to replace anymore parts until they fix it, otherwise you're going to kill and endless succession of alternators and batteries!

doh!

Sheesh, I don't remember a new battery or a new alternator... Shows how inattentive I was to car matters before I was a driver!

I mean, the alternator probably WAS dead again, but there's some short that's draining power. Fast Furney tried to track it down, we replaced the alternator and the battery but that weird blinky thing was still happening with the dashboard lights.

So then, we thought maybe it was a ground problem and he took some of those wires with the alligator clips on the end and grounded one wire to the frame. Voila! The dashboard blinking AND the battery draining stopped.

But then the last few times I noticed that the dash lights were starting to blink again, so I know there's some hard-to-track-down electrical grounding issue. MAN...furney replaced the alternator for the cost of the part and to get his computer working. $400!

Yeah, you had a really nice deal going with furney. I'm sure all the 'puter time you put in was pretty valuable too.

But I don't know any mechanics I can trade with, so I gotta pay the big boys the big bucks... I do wish I'd been aware of all that, it would have been useful to be able to tell them.

No use cryin' over spilt money yo.
